LABOUR’S EUROPEAN REFERENDUM campaign to remain in the EU comes to Liskeard, Cornwall on Friday April 1st at 7:00 pm.
Clare Moody Labour South West MEP will be leading the public meeting involving debate and a Q & A session taking place at Liskeard Public Hall.
The MEP enthused about her role in the Labour In for Britain Campaign that involves: ‘Speaking to as many people as I can across the South West about why I think it is so important that Britain remains firmly in the European Union.’
Emphasising some of the many benefits EU membership brings, the MEP explained: ‘There are very strong reasons for our support. These include improved rights at work, better prices and protection to consumers and greater protection of the environment to name a few.’
According to Clare MEP: ‘Meetings have been well attended and involved lively debates showing that people really want to engage with the subject’. Adding: ‘People understand how important this referendum is to the future of the U.K.’
The meeting is open to all members of the public. Participants will be invited to contribute to a question and answer session with the MEP as part of the event on Friday 1st April 2016 at Liskeard Public Hall. Details also available on Facebook.

Call to Canvass for Re-Election of Cllr Kate Taylor in Devonport
THIS WEEKEND, the Sat 12th / Sun 13 March, all Labour Party Members are invited to join the Plymouth Labour Party in their DASH FOR DEVONPORT canvass event in support of the re-election of Councillor Kate Taylor. They will be building on the amazing BIG BUDSHEAD mass canvass last weekend in the run up to the May 2016 Local Government elections.
The local Devonport Branch said: “We need to remind the good people of Devonport about how amazing their Councillor, Kate Taylor is by canvassing with a view to making 300 contacts and delivering over 4000 personalised letters over the weekend”.

A Fully Funded NHS is Not an Option: It is a Neccessity
Labour says you can’t trust the Tories when it comes to funding your NHS
MEMBERS of the Branch were presented with the case for a fully funded NHS by John Tilbury, former NHS Commissioner and Jan Parker who worked as a GP locally for 26 years at the well attended March 2016, Branch Meeting.
Despite Conservative Party claims in May 2015 of an additional £8bn NHS funding package, we are reminded all too often that Hospital Trusts and Health Authorities up and down the county lurch from one funding crisis to the next.
Against this backdrop, John Tilbury made the case for a fully funded NHS, highlighting the root of the current difficulties facing the NHS is technically ‘underfunding’.
This view, he added, was supported by comparisons with other healthcare systems across the globe, often in less wealthy nations, that generally have a ‘higher proportion of GDP spent on health’ as well as having more beds and nurses on a per capita basis.
Jan Parker, in support of the Support the Reinstatement of Our NHS Petition hosted by the 38 Degrees website, emphasised the negative impact that privatization and tendering of services is having on the NHS by directing valuable resources away from care and into ‘unnecessary administration’.
Members were made aware of the importance of the NHS Reinstatement Bill as part of a cross-party campaign restore the NHS to a fully accountable public service by proposing to end the drive toward NHS privatization.
Jan urged all those present to sign the petition and to contact their local MP and ask them to support the NHS reinstatement Bill.
