Alastair has lived locally for many years in St Dominick and Calstock. As the former chief of Fernleigh House residential home and community care service, he brings a wealth of experience encompassing the needs of local people including an understanding of the way the health service works and has been a stalwart campaigner for a fully funded NHS.

Alastair emphasised that his aim, if elected, will be to: “Campaign to ensure that Cornwall’s Adult Care Services & NHS are properly funded.” Adding: “I am extremely concerned at the lack of NHS funding & have been an advocate for good services for many years. I thoroughly disagree with the underfunding of services in Cornwall and I will do all I can to get money to improve services.”

Calstock and Gunnislake Labour Councillor, Dorothy Kirk has endorsed Alastair’s candidacy and his personal qualities stating: “I have known and respected Alastair for many years and I know that he’d be a great asset for the people in the St Dominic, Harrowbarrow and Kelly Bray ward. His knowledge of adult care and health and social services will be invaluable”.

Alastair asks voters to understand: “Labour are the only Party that will defend the NHS” and a vote for Labour will be a vote for a better future for the NHS in Cornwall.

Councillors demand increased NHS funding at Cornwall Council

COUNCILLORS ARE CALLING on Cornwall Council to demand that the Government gives the funds needed to ensure that the NHS in Cornwall is properly funded. A motion going before the Full Council on 21st February 2017 needs your backing too.

We encourage members and supporters are to write to their local councillor with their own personal views and reflections, underlining the need for improvements to funding for the NHS in Cornwall.
Writing to your councillor and urging them to support the motion could make a difference and result in the Council making the case to government for increased local NHS funding.
If you are unsure who your councillor is, just go to the Cornwall Council website where full details are available including email addresses.
Thank you for your support and interest.
